It’s here!!  I know you’ve all been on the edge of your seats waiting for this day as much as me, but I can’t wait to until tonight to start the Olympics!  I love everything about them and I rarely have my TV off when I’m at home for a solid two weeks.

It’s really difficult to say which of the events is my favorites, but I have to say that women’s gymnastics holds a special place in my heart.  When I was a little girl, I loved gymnastics.  I participated on a team and I watched every televised gymnastics event that I could.  I even VHS taped both the 1992 and 1996 Olympics and would fall asleep watching them every night for years.  I’m really excited to watch this years team as well, even though Nastia Liuken, Shawn Johnson or Alicia Sacramone aren’t on the team.  That’s okay though, there were better candidates.

When I grew up and realized my gymnastics Olympic dreams weren’t coming true, I started watching lots of other sports that I also really enjoy.

I love Kara Goucher.  She’s my favorite elite women marathon runner, so I’m pretty excited to see how she fares in the Olympic marathon.

How did Michael Phelps winning 8 gold medals not capture your heart and make you love to watch swimming?  I’m totally into all swimming events now too.

I’m also really interested to see if Usain Bolt is still the fastest man in the world.  Remember in the 2008 Olympics when he blew every other contender away?  He apparently has a bad back, so only time will tell.

I don’t know any of the divers yet, but I really like watching diving as well.

I’ll watch pretty much any other event that is on TV too, but I think these are my favorites this time around.  Enjoy!!
