My my, this has been the busiest week of your life! We traveled two times — first to Dillon, CO and then to mama’s hometown, Scottsbluff. We stayed at my Aunt and Uncle’s cabin up in the mountains. It was nice to see some different scenery. We just hung out and showed Grandpa Lenny all the little towns up there – Frisco, Dillon, Silverthorne, Keystone and Breckenridge. We were kind of busy there and were tired when we got home.
The next day our family loaded up the car again and drove the 3.5 hours to Scottsbluff (although with Otis and feeding you, it took a little longer). Daddy and I didn’t realize how different it was going to be traveling with a baby and your naughty brother! Our car was definitely loaded down and we were extremely happy when the car ride was over. Grandma was so happy to have you visit her! She took really good care of us pampering us all weekend. We also drove to Bridgeport to meet your great grandparents – Bill and Delores. Great grandma loves babies and she thinks you’re the most beautiful baby she’s ever seen!
We went to our first restaurant with you when grandpa Lenny was in town. We went to downtown Denver to a southern BBQ place called Southern Hospitality (daddy’s favorite). You did really good just sleeping the entire time so mama could eat too.
You are still growin’ and growin’. Sometimes I look down at you and wonder if you grew from the minute before. You are focusing on objects much more now and are so observant of what is going on around you, especially because you are awake so much more this week. You are starting to grab my shoulders when I hold you and are still getting stronger and stronger. There are some outfits that you have almost outgrown already! When we brought you home from the hospital, they were huge on you… makes me sad!
Our sleep is all over the place and I never know what to expect. One night you slept 5 hours straight and the next night you woke up every couple of hours. I hit a little bit of a wall at grandma’s house this weekend – she got really really tired and could barely even remember the nights. I have been letting you fall asleep in our bed more because I’m so tired and you fall asleep faster in there either next to me or on my chest. Sometimes you’ll fall fast asleep in your bed, but these times are getting more rare. This is something we need to work on. I do love cuddling with you though… it’s still one of my favorite things!
You are eating more this week than last too! I went to a work meeting and left you with dad and about 6 ounces of breastmilk for 2.5 hours. I fed you right before I left and you ate the entire stash of milk! I never dreamed that you would eat it all in this little amount of time, but I guess you were hungry! I wasn’t sure how much you were eating during our feedings but this gives me a better idea. You are eating so often that it’s hard for me to find time to pump, so we made the decision to buy some organic formula for you for emergencies. Hopefully you’ll be okay with that, but you won’t be eating it often.
You have a little bit of baby acne that we are clearing up with coconut oil, but other than that minor thing, you’re great!
We hit a milestone this week – your 1 month birthday!
I went to the midwife for a four week checkup and she said everything is looking great. Everything is back to normal size and I can start moderately exercising. I can’t wait to start running and working out again. It will make me a better mommy for you too. I’m feeling pretty good as well. My hair has started falling out, but that is as expected. My lower back ached a little bit this week as well, but stretching and not being under stress cures that.
We are finally back at home all tucked in as a little family and daddy and I couldn’t be happier. We like our little life at our home. All the visitors have been great, but we are excited for this upcoming week to just be us. Daddy is going back to work in a week, so hopefully you and I get on a better schedule this week.
Love you more than you know!
