The Thankful Project – An Opportunity

thankful project title Today’s prompt is an opportunity I’m thankful for.  For two summers during my college years, I worked at a fitness camp for women in La Jolla, CA on the UCSD campus.  This was such a fun job!  We worked out all day in arguably one of the prettiest places in the world and I met some wonderful people that I still keep in touch with to this day.  We lived right near the ocean on the college campus in apartment style dorms, got all our meals provided for us and also got to participate in several fun events and travel around San Diego and southern California.  I got to go to Universal Studios, Sea World, Disney Land, the Dr. Phil Show and lots of other places for free since I was an employee!

I loved it so much the first year that I applied to go back for a second summer before my “grown up” life began.  I got in the best shape of my life, met great friends, lived in a beautiful place and got to experience the gems of southern California without having to pay for any of it!

  1. Wow, that sounds like a blast! How long did the camp run? I’ve never heard of anything quite like that–it seems like such an awesome idea!

The camp ran from the beginning of June until the end of August. There are several camps that do this type of thing. I went to Camp La Jolla, but it got bought out by Wellspring since I’ve been there.

Now that is a cool opportunity!

Sounds awesome! The two most fun summers of my life were spent working at a family resort in northern Vermont during college. There’s nothing quite like those freeing summers before all the personal responsibility/work/family (“grown up”) stuff sets in!
