I can’t believe I forgot to post this!  For David’s birthday last month, we took him to Linger in the Highlands neighborhood in Denver.  We were excited for this because people rave about it!

This is what their menu is all about:

Screen Shot 2013-12-15 at 7.47.53 PM It’s small plates that are inspired by street food from various parts of the world.  It’s whole, fresh food that definitely did not disappoint.

We all just ordered together and everyone was able to try all the dishes we got.  This worked perfectly!

Firstly, I just want to say that this place had the best service I’ve ever seen.  The waitress knew the menu inside and out.  Since I’m following a dairy, gluten and egg free diet, dining out can be difficult especially when the waiters and waitresses don’t know the menu very well.  Here, our waitress was able to tell me exactly what I could and could not eat and how to order it so that I was able to eat it.  It was so nice and I knew for certain that I wasn’t getting anything I wasn’t supposed to.

They also signed a birthday card for the birthday boy and brought some free plates of different things by to try along with some amazing-looking ice cream for dessert.

We started off with drinks.  I ordered a ginger collins complete with vodka, lemon juice, ginger juice, agave nectar and sparkling water.  I even ordered a second it was so tasty.

This was one of the free samples our waitress brought us.  We actually had no idea what it really was, but it was some sort of yogurt/kefir shot.  It had a very odd taste to it.

Review

I obviously had to be pretty picky about what I could and couldn’t eat, so I had to pass on quite a few of these plates.  I liked the butternut squash salad a lot and the tacos were great.  They both tasted completely fresh and healthy – no chemicals or preservatives added to anything.  My table raved about the “Devils on a Horseback” and the “Pho Real Spring Rolls.”  I made the reservation almost a month in advance and we had to go at 5:30 on Saturday night, so this place fills up fast!  If you like a place that serves small plates family style, this is definitely for you!
