In episode 17 of the Mother in Me Podcast, I discuss the top 10 benefits I think a doula provides to a laboring couple.
What is a Doula?
As the DONA website provides:
A doula is an experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth.
They are able to provide physical (but not medical) and emotional help and support to both the mom and her partner and family surrounding the birthing period.
I had a wonderful doula for my labor and delivery and she provided encouragement, support and physical pain relief for me. As much as I can’t imagine my labor without her, I think she helped David even more. He was able to take breaks and know I would be attended to by someone he trusted.
