Three years. The years have gone by at lightening speed, but I also can’t imagine my life without David in it!
We were friends in college and thereafter and we eventually decided to try a relationship after I had moved to Denver and he was still in Phoenix (I know – great timing!). Later that year, we both quit our jobs, sold lots of our stuff (or put it in storage) and traveled abroad. I went to Southeast Asia first and he went to Australia and I met him there. We started our life together the day I met him in Australia – May 5, 2009.
We have lived together ever since. We’ve lived in Australia, Chico, California, Phoenix, Arizona and now our permanent home, Denver, Colorado.
In the 5 years, we’ve been together, we’ve moved 5 times, I started and finished acupuncture school, he started a new job, we got engaged, married, bought a dog, bought a house, and had a baby. What a whirlwind – but a beautiful one at that.
Through lots of life events, we are quite different people since we’ve been together and even married, but we’ve grown and molded into a terrific team. I am definitely not the carefree college girl that he once knew living in Arizona with having fun as her biggest priority. I have become a wife and mother amongst lots of other titles I’m now holding.
He now looks at me with no makeup, hair in a ponytail, yoga pants on, bags under my eyes and the beginning of wrinkles, but he tells me I look pretty all the time. He puts our family first all the time and is the world’s best provider for us. I fall deeper in love with him every time I see him play with Aiden, read him a book or kiss his face. He reads my mind sometimes better than even I do. He helps around the house more than I think most husbands do so I am less stressed. He is always supportive of my goals, dreams, and ambitions. I know we are his biggest priority and for that, I am eternally grateful.
We have been through a lot together in the past 3 years of marriage (and 5 years of dating). We have built a beautiful life and family and I can’t wait to see what else we are able to build and achieve. I just want to say thank you. I don’t say it enough. I am so appreciative for everything you do for all of us each day.
I love you to the moon and back.
