As I mentioned on Friday, our family made a little road trip for the long weekend to my hometown – Scottsbluff, Nebraska. I totally unplugged and to be honest, enjoyed every bit of it. Sometimes it’s just so nice to soak in family time and not have the internet and social media in your face for a couple days.
We had a bit of a rough trip going there due to holiday traffic and a much shorter than expected afternoon nap from the little mister. We had to stop about midway through the trip and arrived with the need for a glass of wine. Once we were there, all was good and everyone was happy.
Saturday morning, David and I went for our respective runs – mine was 4 sweaty miles. I’m trying to ramp up the distance a little bit while also trying to set a good base for my half marathon training. I’ll talk more about that in another post.
After our sweaty runs, we got ready and headed out to the zoo. Scottsbluff’s zoo is definitely on the tinier side and has lots of random animals, but Aiden liked it. He and a raccoon were playing
trying to kill each other through the glass.
I’m not pregnant – my horrible posture just makes it look like it!
When we weren’t on the go, Aiden was walking from indoors to outdoors incessantly. The little boy loves the outside and sees no use for pants when going.
We also visited the country club pool twice! It’s a nice little pool with not a lot of people, so that’s always nice for a baby. David and I are able to get adult beverages and hang out while Aiden has fun too. He had to show his daddy his mad swimming skills from swimming lessons.
I’m thinking possibly the chlorinated pool makes a difference in his reaction to the water because he didn’t like going under at all and at swimming lessons, he loves it. The pool at swimming lessons is a salt water pool. Any idea?
We went to Bridgeport on Sunday morning to help my grandparents plant flowers and do some around-the-house things. I didn’t remember to take any pictures there either.
We went swimming on Sunday afternoon and we were all in bed early that night.
We got home around 2 pm on Monday just in time to do all the fun things like unpack, vacuum the cheerios and dog hair out of the car, go grocery shopping and prepare food for the week.
I am always sad to leave there, but I will be going back several times this summer, so that helps.
