This weekend was a really good one! We spent lots of time as a family, the weather was good, and we did lots of fun things.
Saturday morning started bright and early. David left the house at 5 am to complete his 10 miles at Washington Park. I slept in until 6:15 and then rushed to get Aiden and I out the door to meet him there and swap the little one. I ended up running 5 miles and it was the best run I’ve had since before I got pregnant – two years ya’ll. I ran the entire thing and felt good doing it! Win.
I got home and immediately started preparing for our block party we hosted later on in the day. I cleaned - I mean deep cleaned. Our house definitely needed that, so I felt good about it. I also got everything ready in the garage for food setup. It absolutely poured before the party, so we set everything up inside. (Don’t mind the random headboard hanging on our garage wall)!
We had about 25 people there and everyone brought a side dish. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any pictures once the food was setup. Bummer.
Luckily, right when the party started, the sun came out and the weather was perfect. We were able to bring everything back outside.
It was really fun getting to know neighbors we didn’t know very well and catching up more with the ones we do know. I think everyone had a good time. Aiden was in heaven with all the little kids – I don’t think he’s ever played so hard. Also, thank God for high school kids who don’t realize they’re working when they keep them entertained!
After a busy Saturday, we all crashed in our beds and slept in until almost 7 am! We headed out to the dog park with Otis but stopped by Starbucks first! Oprah chai tea for me.
This little guy was so happy – grinning ear to ear.
We got home at 8:30 and realized we had nothing on the agenda and decided that we would venture to the aquarium with Aiden.
He was pretty excited and enthralled with the fish. He slapped the glass they were in and laughed and laughed at them. It was pretty darn cute if I don’t say so myself.
He walked basically the entire thing and couldn’t have been happier exploring.
I always love looking at the sharks. There is something so intriguing to me about them.
When we got home, we ate a quick lunch of leftovers from Saturday’s BBQ and then played outside for a long time.
Baby’s first basketball shot!
It started to rain just in time for the USA soccer match – perfect time to go inside. The USA soccer game was a great game, but unfortunately, they tied.
The rest of the night was spent cooking dinner, cleaning up, bath time and soaking up the last weekend minutes.
