From Halloween to New Years, the average American gains about 1-2 lbs. It’s less than previously thought, but the downfall is that these 1-2 lbs. don’t usually ever come off. Year after year that adds up and can become problematic in the long run. In this episode, I gave you my best 10 tips and tricks to get you through the holidays with enjoyment but without the weight gain and health decline!
- Think 80/20. Eat healthy 80% of the time and add treats in 20% of the time! This is a good balance for this time of the year and can stave off foods that you typically don’t eat and excess calories.
- Think about what to add instead of what not to eat. I hate thinking about all the things I shouldn’t eat – sugar, white flour, salt, processed foods, alcohol, caffeine, etc. I have switched my mindset into thinking about all the healthy nutrients I need to add into my diet for optimal health. I add in greens, fruits, veggies, healthy fats and proteins, and extra micronutrients like Amazing Grass!
- Treat yourself 20% of the time!
- Practice portion control
- Think about the future and how you’ll feel. Choose foods and beverages that are going to make you feel good in the long run and not be detrimental to your health and how you feel. No one likes to feel sluggish after a meal.
- Don’t go hungry to a party.
- Try not to go more than 2 days without a workout
- Move more
- Drink water ALL DAY
- Don’t give up. You’ve worked hard on your health all year. Don’t let these next 2 months ruin all your results that you’ve made over the year. Also, don’t wait another 2 months to start a health program because you don’t think it matters. It always matters!
